20 Day Challenge #1: Genesis 28 & 29:1-29

biblejournaling10Read through the chapter and then go over it again and write out what you notice in your notebook. The first challenge is experimenting with bible journaling. You can use the following to guide you if you wish. If you don’t like drawing, then just write out the words in appropriate sizes or shapes.

Genesis 28:

  • Write down where Isaac told Jacob to go to find a wife.
  • Write down how Esau tried to please his father.
  • Draw Jacob asleep with his head on a rock (!) and draw his dream.
  • Summarize what God said to Jacob in his dream.
  • Write out what Jacob named this place.
  • Write down the bargain Jacob makes with God.

Perhaps Jacob wondered if God would be with him when he was returning to the land that Abraham had been called out of.

Genesis 29:1-29:

  • Draw the beautiful shepherdess Rachel and her sheep.
  • Laban asks what his wage should be for working for him. Write out what Jacob volunteers in verse 18.
  • Write out how Jacob viewed the years that he worked.
  • Make up a wedding invitation.
  • Draw Jacob’s angry face and write out his reason for being angry.
  • Write out Laban’s response in verse 26,27.
