20 Day Challenge #1: Genesis 44 & 45

biblejournaling18Read through the chapters and then go over them again and write out what you notice in your notebook. You can use the following to guide you if you wish. If you don’t like drawing, then just write out the words in appropriate sizes or shapes.

Genesis 44:

  • Draw Joseph’s silver cup and write out where the steward is instructed to put it.
  • Write out verse 3.
  • Draw the steward and what he is told to say to the brothers.
  • Draw the cup in Benjamin’s sack.
  • Write out what Judah offers to do and why.

Genesis 45:

  • Draw Joseph and write out what he tells his brothers.
  • Write out the reason Joseph gives for his being sold into Egypt in verse 5.
  • Draw the wagons sent to bring all Jacob’s household into Egypt.
  • Write out the instructions Joseph gives his brothers in verse 24.

To one they would say, “It was you that first upbraided him with his dreams;” to another, “It was you that stripped him of his fine coat;” to another, “It was you that threw him into the pit,” etc. Now Joseph, having forgiven them all, lays this obligation upon them, not to upbraid one another. (MHC)

  • Write out the words of Jacob in verse 28.

We cannot judge what men are by what they have been formerly, nor what they will do by what they have done: age and experience may make men wiser and better. Those that had sold Joseph would not now abandon Benjamin. The worst may mend in time. (MHC)
