Challenge #3: Day 19

bibletranslations

Song of Solomon 3,4,5

What you have read from over the past few days is a sampling of translations that use a paraphrase philosophy. These are usually very easy to understand but are the most likely to be greatly influenced by whatever the translator thinks the passage might mean.

Today compare one of the paraphrase translations with one of the word-for-word translations.

Go to www.biblestudytools.org/parallel-bible/ and type in the reading for today. Choose the LB or TM and then one of the translations from Days 1-5 and they will come up in parallel windows. Read it through first in the translation for today and then go back a compare it with the other translation.

Do the reading for today in whichever translation you would like that uses this philosophy.

1. Choose a verse or two to write out in your notebook.

2. What differences did you notice? Was anything completely different? Write down your thoughts about these two different translation philosophies.
