Being Thankful Day 31

31

This is the last day of 2015. I hope we can all look back on the year and find many things to be thankful for. What do you do already or plan to do in the coming year, God willing, to continue to develop a thankful and content spirit?

“And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” (Colossians 3:15-17)

Happy New Year!

Being Thankful Day 30

“We need friends. They have a positive impact on our health, wealth and mental well-being. Social isolation on the other hand, creates feelings akin to physical pain and leaves us stressed and susceptible to illness. In fact, our bodies react to a lack of friends as if a crucial biological need is going unfulfilled.” (New Scientist, 24 May 2014)

What do you do to show thankfulness for the friends in your life?

Being Thankful Day 29

“He who loves his dream of community more than the Christian community itself becomes a destroyer of the latter… If we do not give thanks daily for the Christian fellowship in which we have been placed, even when there is no great experience, no discoverable riches, but much weakness, small faith, and difficulty; if on the contrary, we keep complaining that everything is paltry and petty, then we hinder God from letting our fellowship grow.” (D. Bonhoeffer)
